Is it a constant speed noise or does it vary with engine speed?
you have the belts on that side for various functions plus the turbo itself is drivers side rear Might be worth taking the wheel arch liner off which may help pinpoint the noise |

air con can do this too if there is insufficient oil in the refrigerant circuit. Have you tried driving with the climate control in "econ" mode?

possibly a split in one of the boost hoses then. Check the hose from the turbo to the intercooler and the one from the intercooler to the EGR valve. If there's a small split, it can cause a whooshing, wistling or whining noise. The mitsubishi industries turbo fitted to our cars is one of the most reliable turbos around. Its not unthinkable but its highly unlikely to be a turbo problem. How many miles has the car covered, what oil are you using and how often does the oil get changed?

Like I said, I wouldn't be too concerned about turbo probs although you can never be 100% certain. The engine will be just about run in at that mileage. Check the hoses I mentioned and also the tension of the auxiliary drive belt.
