Sounds reasonable to me because the calipers and discs have first to be removed to get at the handbrake shoes, then the shoes have to be fitted, the whole lot re-assembled, then the handbrake adjusted

Was charged £36.98
1.5 hours labour for doing the job, it was a Rover specialist garage I use, they did my 90,000 mile service last year and charged me £335 but I did supply all the belts, water pump, plugs, etc Have seen the shoes cheaper on e bay for 20 quid, If I supply the parts and the garage then fits them, I have no come back if anything goes wrong Least if they supply and fit the parts and anything goes wrong then at least they will do something about it Had a new steering rack fitted last year Labour £120 Steering rack (not Rover) it was 100 quid cheaper than Rover £236.83 Its a lot cheaper than I thought it would be to run but then I am only doing about 5000 miles a year If I was doing about 10K to 20 K a year I would not be able to afford and run this car Would end up with some cheap Foreign thing

1.5 hours labour sounds about right for this job

Yes they did a very good job last year Am never using Kwit fit again for MOT's, They failed the 75 on the hand brake, I then went to pick the car up at 4 pm, They then told me to go else where and get it fixed as they had no idea what was wrong with it They now saying that they should of fixed it and I will end up paying more money because I went else where They booked it in to day at 5 PM for a re test, turned up and was told to go back in the morning at 8.30 Once and if I ever get the MOT I will never be using them again and I will be in contact with head office

The hand brake shoes looked like that they have never been replaced I never use the hand brake that much being a automatic, did not really notice it was not working, the shoes were worn out

I'm loosing track a bit here
Why didn't you use your Rover specialist for your MOT,or at least let them take it somewhere trusted for you? Kwik fit are excellent for fixed price jobs like an A/C regas but as far as MOT's are concerned it's a lottery what they find. They are target driven an opportunistic. |
