Odd?
I just used Ccleaner and then restarted Firefox, came here only to see Zeb was logged on...only he wasn't...if you see what I mean? Strangely, my id came up at the end of the list of ids whereas when I am logged on it comes up at the beginning? *Is now confused...*

We rolled back and removed security updates and they seem to run fine, but at present no "Fault Found" or fixed correctly (don't like leaving updates off) Nothing posted on MS so still awaiting reply.
One Machine with this error had the LAN card running Flat out sending & receiving locking up Computer for 15mins then again on and off, but no idea what it was sending/receiving as all others disconnected from Network?! |

We're finding the exactly the same symptoms, could it be something as simple as a driver update gone wrong?? Seems to affect Dell Latitude machines more than anything... Zeb - sorry |

Humpf! Thread hijacking eh? Ok, so the system simply shows I am there when I am not.
Second question: After removing all junk, defragging, running various anti spy / virus / trojan ware my system is still terribly slow....just waiting for the HD to catch up all the time.....especially bad with Firefox and Explorer. Do I need a new HD * thinks about backing up everything today..* or do I need more RAM? 384mb at present. |

Zeb, I think the amount of Memory you have is to low.
Recommended is generally 512MB minimum but in reality nowadays 1GB is required with many Memory Intensive Programs and Multi Tasking, and if onboard Graphics is stealing more this could indeed be a problem, as well as what you have running and loaded in background. But before running away with Suggestions what Operating System are you using and speed of Processor etc would help if you don't mind. |

Your Graphics is Indeed a Chip built into Motherboard, generally used on Laptops, using 64mb of you available memory, so indeed it is robbing your system of memory that Windows XP Pro needs to run Properly, which is stated as 512mb but in reality 1GB would be the better option if your Computer takes that amount. You actually only have 320MB of Memory at your Disposal and the reason the Hard Drive is working so hard is because it is using thiis to make up for the shortage.
If you go to www.crucial.com/uk and put in your computer make and model details it will recommend how much memory it can take and the correct one at a good price. This would be your cheapest and I think best solution to speeding up your Computer which will leave your hard drive then to do its proper job. Hope this helps you Zeb and any others.
