Agreed values.

Considering the still pitifully low market value of the 75/ZT I wondered how many of us have an agreed value on our car/s? I know many are in well above average condition and have a lot invested in them but that would mean nothing if the worst should happen without an agreed value in place.

Anyone with an agreed value care to share what it is?

I had an Agreed Value Policy on my GT6 - as recommended by the Triumph Sports Six Club - it was via Adrian Flux and was my first introduction to this specialist broker.

If you google their details on how to go about applying for such a policy you can view their video on how to take and present photos of your pride and joy alongside a comprehensive description. Sorry - I am unable to post links.

I also remember having an engineers report which I submitted as well.

If any of us have specialist cars that do not fit the standard profile the insurance companies hold on our cars then such a policy would be the best option in my opinion.

Clyde’s car would be an obvious possibility here. The photos he submitted in his add speak for themselves.

You will have to shop around to find an insurance company that will do an agreed value policy on any car that is less than 20 years old.

I have one on my Jensen and the process is straightforward. You will need to provide 6 or 8 photo's depending on the company. You will also need a letter from somebody in the club who agrees with your value.

My Insurance broker gave me some advice, if they agree to your valuation without asking for proof you have probably undervalued it in there view. I was advised to keep copies of adverts for cars that have sold for high prices.

A few months ago i came close to semi retiring my Cowley to keep her tidy and use a ZT for a daily workhorse instead but didn't work out... However i did get as far as agreeing a £1750 value with Peter Best after they had seen multiple pictures of her with 6000 miles annual allowance. They didn't ask for a written valuation from someone in the club but as i ended up not going forward it might have been something they would ask for later.

Interesting. I will be looking to hopefully get my two typhoons and my 220 coupe turbo on an agreed value policy, too in the near future.

My old celestial zt 190 was on a classic policy with Peter best, and had an agreed valuation of £2800. All I had to do was send in a selection of photos and a description of why I valued it at what I did. They emailed back within 2 hours saying it was accepted.
I do know though that Peter best have now stopped taking on modern mgr's as new business on a classic policy. If you already have a policy with them they will do renewals, but they have stopped doing new policies for our cars!
