Default Background Vinyl Sticker - Rear Number Plate Area

Is there such a thing as a made to fit background vinyl, even carbon effect, sticker for the entire rear number plate area. As cut to fit number plates do not exist in Germany, I thought it would be better to add a black background and put the plate on top. I believe the drill holes on my RHD will show, both sides of the smaller German plate as well, when fitted, but I'm not that far yet.

I found plenty of black vinyl wrap from the roll on Ebay. Would be nice to have a ready cut one though.

Just a thought.

No, I'm afraid not. The numbers and letters have to be pressed into metal by law and have to be a certain size. When the car changes ownership, new plates have to be fitted and tax paid. You have to wait for ages in an awful government building, amongst crowds of dodgy car dealers, to be given the plates. Then you go outside to various shops in the vicinity and have them made. You go back into the building and have them stamped with a tax/MOT disc etc. They then have to be screwed on to the car, before leaving the car park. The system is totally stupid here and just a way of making money for the authorities.

Good idea. I had thought about a flag, but thought it would look silly. I was wrong! Where did you get this?

Back after a break...

I ended up buying a piece of matt vinyl wrap on Ebay and cut it out myself. To get the shape, I took four pieces of kitchen roll (still together) and taped it all over the empty number plate area at the back. I then took a pen and followed the contours. I then placed the paper over the vinyl, on a flat surface. I lightly pressed on the lines, I'd previously drawn on the paper, creating a visible impression on the vinyl. The vinyl was then cut very slowly with a scalpel, as it's very sharp and allows for a better cut.

The job was finished with a plain matt black plastic registration plate holder. I only bought one of these, as they don't fit at the front.
