1.8 T with cruise control
Hi all,
I travelled from London where I live to Cornwall this week and for much of my journey at night I used cruise control. My car which is a 1.8T Tourer never came with cruise control or the wiring for it .A couple of years ago I had cruise control fitted by a company called Conrad Anderson who are based in Birmingham. I’m posting to says it’s possible to have this done and what a good job they did . It was expensive at around £1200 but has made my car more enjoyable to use because I am not so tired after long trips and on these type of journeys use less fuel. The longer I have had cruise control the more I have appreciated it and it may be of interest to others. Last edited by Terry00H; 26th October 2023 at 15:17.. |

I was disappointed to find that the 1.8 was not fitted with cruise at the factory but at £1200 l'll continue to do without.

I may have got the price wrong or they are now cheaper . I’m sure that over many years of use and if used correctly will pay for itself with fuel saved .I have the one with a programable stork on which 3 buttons can each be set to a different speed. There have been a couple of times that I’ve passed the police with speed guns in use and me ,Cruise control set ,going at exactly the speed limit.
Conrad Anderson are an interesting company and with a lot of the gear they supply now fitted as standard are moving towards retrofitting vans for “Off Grid” living and surfer type camper vans. I’m guessing something like Cruise control would be wanted by people with older classic cars. With our cars and the values perhaps it’s an extravagant addition . For me after what I’ve been through to keep mine on the road ,(Engine swap from a 2011 1.8t MG6) , it was the icing on the cake! |

Yes, good value for the kit but the installation more than doubles the price. It's a tempting option though.
