As it happens , the cam sensor is not very old so it just needed a wipe
I am happy the breather system is clean now ; both pinholes were blocked and the filters were clogged solid But , the symptoms on cold start are classic valve stem seals so I guess that is it now . I might consider looking for a pair of heads and rebuilding them at leisure over the cold period , making the job a bit quicker when I come to do it
Why oh why did I have to have a v6 ! If it was a 4 pot K-series it would have been done by now
