Default faulty fan??????

hi, hope someone can help diagnose this problem. the cooling/air con fan doesnt work on my 51 plate cdt. not long had the car and noticed fan wasnt working so took front bumper off and noticed the wiring loom has been rubbing on the chassis and had cut through the loom. rewired them and the fan worked fine for a few days but not anymore. just checked the wires to the fan and have power there so suspect fan is cream crackered. advice would be appreciated, thanks.

New fan. Have a look at SMC's ebay shop (he's a member on here) for a good price or see if www.roverbreakers.com have one.

Look at the many posts for possible anserws to this. If you can take the bumper off and rewire the loom, then you could probably do the brush replacement or the resistor replacement.

No I replied elsewhere on this, nearest I got was a company offering to do a minimum of 1000 at $3 each but they would not do me a sample to test fit

I am currently trying to get to speak to a Human at Siemens and try and buy direct from their supplier both motors and brushes

The motors alone with tails on are about $65 ex works so god knows how the retail price ends up at £280

For brushes try sdcarbons.co.uk based in N. Ireland. I've already spoken to them and they have provided these brushes in the past. They will make them for a minimum charge of £20 for a pair. However, bulk purchase would reduce the price considerably.

Thanks that is another one to approach

When you say "they have provided these brushes in the past" do you mean they have already made brushes for our particular type of motor so already have the info to do so again on file?

Yes, they believe they have provided brushes for the siemens motor in the past. However, they asked to be sent a used one, so they could be sure they provide the correct ones.
