On the news this evening it was said that using/looking at a mobile phone touch screen is no different than using an inbuilt touch screen that is incorporated into the vehicles dashboard, e.g touch screens on new vehicles and double din car stereos etc.

No means of communication in the car at all.End of. If you want to ring some one or answer a message, pull over and get out of the car.Sheer laziness otherwise.

Don't forget to gag your passengers before you set off

Oh God yes...... - My late MiL was a wonderful woman but on any car journey it was like she had to fill any quiet with constant inane chatter.

Talk about wearing

I would arrive feeling my brain had been totally frazzled and pulled out of my head through my ears.

Seriously though, it's a good thing that this is being clamped down on......it's being openly abused by just about every other motorist it would seem and too many lives are being destroyed as a consequence !
reports indicate that hands free is also quite a distraction. if I call someone and find they are driving I terminate the call. people put their call before the law and safety.

Reports indicated that diesel was better for us than petrol.......

As I've already said, the act of doing anything other than concentrating on driving is a distraction.
There isn't a person on here that hasn't allowed themselves some form of distraction whilst at the wheel .

I agree that we must all try and minimise these distractions but let's have some perspective...........or perhaps we all need to hope the driverless car is upon us sooner than later.......take the distracted human out of the chain

Mobiles you just get so involved your mind considers nothing else, let alone controlling a car at speed.
When I was much younger, I remember seeing a truck driver reading g a magazine whilst on the M20. Foot off cruise control on that model of truck...
