I am going to wrap the one we have on the ZS (came with the car).

Why heat the induction air? Am I missing something? To get more power you need cold air to make it denser, think inter cooler as it cools the intake air to give more power. Tbh with these engines the only way of getting any real increase is to supercharge them

Yep, colder the air charge the denser it is, denser the air more fuel you can add, more fuel and air equals bigger bang and more power. Simple.

Hence why turbo charged engines employ an inter cooler as compressing the air makes it hot and less dense even though it's compressed. By Cooling that pressurised air you get more weight of air in same volume.

No one is arguing about the physics, its too basic.

But the difference between a metal tube and a plastic tube that feeds the air into the engine, is likely to be almost zero.

No doubt it looks great, and is a nice bit of work, but in terms of performance, its going to make no difference to anything.

I would imagine heatsoak into the pipe won't affect the inlet temps that much, as its not forced induction.

For me though the original rubber and plastic inlet looks great, but then I'm OCD about keeping things OEM.

Well they do claim some improvement as it's not as rough inside as a plastic one, allowing for better airflow. Who knows........

From a temperature point of view there is no difference, from an airflow one there might be.

Whatever the benefit, it does look nice.................

I don't believe for one moment that you can get a better surface in a metal casting than in a plastic one, on the contrary.

The advantage of the metal is purely durability and quality, which in my book is more than enough.

Didn't mention surface, just rough finish. Split-lines and flash from moulding that disturb airflow
