Default Intermittent engine mangement light

I am having the engine management light come on intermittently on my CDT.
Had been happening yesterday below 1,500 revs.
Engine may be a bit down on power but hard to tell as I was lugging a caravan behind
.

This morning no light for first 5 minutes then it started again below 1,500 revs. Car is starting fine and seems to be running smoothly.

I hope this is not a red herring, I filled 3/4 tank with Tesco diesel and now the light seems to come on up to 2-2,500 revs.

Maf?
If it is the Maf is Bosch the recommended replacement?

I have limited access to the internet, at the moment am parked as side of the road in a lay by so I may not access this thread again today.

What are your thoughts on what is causing the light to come on intermittently?

The engine management light on the diesel models, is a bit numb, it only comes on for a couple of things

The one it usually causes the EML is the wiring connector to the fuel filter head. Unplug then plug it in a couple of times to clean the contacts and hopefully the light will go out

I concur with Russ, typical symptoms of this is EML light flashing on and off in the message centre, sometimes staying on for a minute at a time then going off then coming on, when the connection is not making a proper contact it will send a default value to the ECM, seen it loads of times I found one of the solutions is to clean out contacts with electrical contact spray, and actually use a tie strap over the plug to maintain a nice solid tight snug fit

That's an easy check, thank you.

Today the light stayed off for quite a while then has come on regularly.
Once "home" I'll check the connection

Default cdti engine management light

Hi, Can I ask that the engine management light is the yellow engine shape with the exclamation mark in the middle?

I had my alternator replaced a week ago and a few days after, the warning light came on when accelerating up to speed on the motorway. The engine lost power on that day. I had to turn engine off then on and engine power returned but warning light light remained on. I reseated the fuel filter sensor plug later that day and the warning light went off. That was last week.

Today it happened again when accelerating on motorway. This time the engine cut out. The engine re-started fine and I have reseated the plug again but the warning light remains on.

Can anyone offer any help,
thanks
Ian

PS. just want to add that the abs warning light sometimes comes on very faintly. Brakes working perfectly though. Im thinking it could be the ECU. And engine idle is lumpy. All of this occurred after the alternator was replaced.
Maybe something was not re-connected right??
.
