Default retro fit headlamp washer jets

Hi i am after some help re retro fitting headlamp washer jets. I have a 2002 tourer that has no wireing for the headlamp pump or the bbus so i have had a go at wireing up the headlamp pump with wires and relays. the problem that i cant get over is when you take the wires from the screen wash pump both are live. when you pull the wiper stalk for the front screen one of the live wires is then an earth. but like wise when you use the rear wash the other live then goes to earth. so basically i get the headlamp washers working when i use either the front or back washers. i hope this makes some sence any ideas wuold be a great help. thanks shaun

Easiest way , remove your alarm horn , its by the pollen filter and fit a second hand bbus unit.
Then fit the pump in the bottle and connect using the taped up multi plug on the existing wiring
Organise a t4 session activate bbus and headlamp power wash. Then they will operate correctly washing the headlights every fifth squirt with the headlights on. Also disabling the headlamp power wash when the bottle level drops below 1/4

On the tourer the screenwash pump runs one way for the windscreen and runs in the reverse direction when you operate the washer for the rear screen.

Possibly a diode in the circuit will make the headlamp wash only operate when the front windscreen washer works.

Any system other than the correct factory set up will not work as efficiently.

I looked at that but my 75 has no wireing for the bbus or the pump built in. the loom has no spare plugs for anything

Sure someone will be along to correct me if needs be , but not seen one without the multi plug for bbus , have another look around in the vesinity of the alarm siren/horn. Same with the washer pump. Normally taped in out of sight

I'm not so sure the T4 actually does disable the headlight wash when it reaches 1/4 full although it might, however that's pretty pointless as the pipckup for the headlight washer is at the 1/4 full height in the washer bottle!

The ECU looks for the lower fluid warning light coming on to disable the headlamp washers....it's purely to save water when it's low. Same as it only works when the headlights are on, again as a water saving device.

Any saves burning out the pump by running it dry

I thought the same, but it is likely that a lot of ZT's and late model lower spec 75's do not have the cabling in place for the BBUS and powerwash pump.
