Default hand brake cable

please can someone tell me how to remove the hand brake cable from the back plate. I have tried and just moved the rubber sleeves out.

unless its snapped (unlikely)leave it be. your poor handbrake will not be down to the cable.unless its broke

Thanks, but the dust shield needs to be taken off and replaced . the cable is attached to tho (?)

now we no.the cable end rusts in solid as you have found.i used a dremel and gently ground away the metal tube on the plate.this is not part of the cable.that sits inside it
