ignition live
Another couple of questions lol not really used to all this canbus that is on these cars, and I am going to fit my dash camera in (if weather clears)
so what/where do I get an ignition live that I can tap into to power the dash cam? might be a daft question I know as the obvious place would be a feed from the fuse box, but do not want to upset anything with the canbus ...might be also needing a 12Volt constant live I was think from the stereo ?? also will need to run the cable up the A pillar...now that has an airbag in there...so is the panel needing to be removed or is there enough room to just tuck the cable in?? |

you can probably pick up a permanent live from the courtesy lights....
switched live at bottom of drivers A pillar from the sunroof connector (presuming no sunroof fitted). If you have a sunroof then switched live from sunroof switches. |

Battery Live - Orange/Light Green cable in sunroof wiring behind the interior light.
Ignition Live - White/Yellow in auto mirror wiring (if fitted) Last edited by raykay; 4th October 2014 at 13:41.. |

I wired mine into the front light in the roof you can then mount the camera up behind the rearview mirror

Problem is the camera I have uses 5V not 12v so also have to fit an adaptor ...which is the original cigarette lighter socket..so a wee bit bulky I think to fit in there
mind you could simply remove the circuit board from that and hid in the light |

if it uses USB power like mine there's enough room in the head lining to hide an adapter
