It's trying to start, but not actually firing, seems like there's no fuel getting to the engine, but I can hear the fuel pump running in the engine bay before turning the ignition to position 2?

I'd still plump for the battery as it was only clicking before...The pumps should be running when the ignition lights come on

Would the battery strength have any negative effect on the fuel pumps, the car was turning over strongly without actually firing? ( Until I flattened it again!! )...

Phil,
After looking at your earlier thread you can only have charged your battery for a maximum of 2 hours. That's nowhere near enough. You will need to leave it on charge for 24 hours. Don't leave it in a discharged state. Put it on your charger now and don't try to start the car until this time tomorrow. Simon
