Default EGR Bypass

Please correct me if I'm wrong but if I fit me a EGR bypass it would be better to clean out the intake manifold at the same time to gain the full benefit of the bypass?

less gunk in the manifold would aid better air flow, interestingly there is a product doing the rounds that is similar to the Forte flush system but apparently better for diesels. It 'allegedly' cleans the egr, manfold and DPF filter (which we don't have) costs around £400 though I believe....

'Marmite' Possibly one of the most famous 75 tourers produced! left the production line as the last of only Three Rover 75 tourers produced in Trophy Yellow. 48 hours later Longbridge closed. The last sold ordered 75 Tourer. Paid for by the Phoenix Four and handed over by John Towers to the Warwickshire Northampton Air ambulance service as a Rapid Response vehicle

Swarfega, foamy oven-cleaner, Lidl multi-purpose de-greaser, a washing-up brush and an old tooth-brush will leave a lot of change from £400 thanks very much.

Wear disposable gloves unless you want to spend the rest of the day trying to get the filthy black gunge from your fingernails.

Singvogel.

ps Check my sunglasses, sworks - cool.

A bottle brush is also an essential piece of kit for this job.

This must be the dirtiest job i have ever done.

I agree - goes to show that this entire EGR concept was a bad idea - thought up as a quick fix to gain some 'green' points in the emission control stakes.

It just can't be any good for an engine to have to ingest all that extra carbon muck.
