Since you asked, released in 2009 which is ancient by modern smartphone standards, also it's Windows Mobile and WM is, compared to Android and iOS a lame duck. Add to this that it's available refurbished for a couple hundred pounds and you have a big problem with price. I wouldn't normally go anywhere near spoiling somebody's sale but you did ask, feel free to delete my post. You'll need to take a much bigger hit on price, it IS an HTC and beautifully made so if you appeal to someone with the ability to put an Android ROM on it it might sell.

Hi Mac and thanks for the spec on the HTC

I have been having a tentative look at the iPhone and the Samsung S2. Looking for a sim-free one or a suitable pad which can also be used as a phone as well. I have had a birthday request! Just my luck.

Cheers

Put Android on it and it'll be a great phone, or advertise on a Techier forum.

I am still looking for a smart Fone as a pressie on PYG I did see the HTC HD 2 and it looked ok. Also it was suggested I try the S2 or Nokia N800. I am travelling and checking out the deals. Budget is up to 350 GBP so S2 is too pricey.

The HD2 is a bit specialist, only worth it if you know how or are wlling to learn how to flash Android and use it. Windows Mobile is pretty much dead for private users and only of use for certain business applications.

By N800 i assume you mean the Lumia 800 not the actual N800, which is a bit of an old brick now with little support.

You should be able to get an unlocked S2 second hand for £350

I will pop into the phone shop tomorrow where I picked up the iPhone and look for a deal on sim free. The N800 was recommended but given your comments I will put it to the back of the line. It is for my wife and will need to be straight forward, something to handle apps, can take pics and do emails. I arrived in Cape Town last night and it will be interesting to see what is available at the right price. Thanks for the pointers and tips.
