Hi as Russ has pointed out, this is a very real issue with the immobiliser system on our cars.
This is the third time we have encountered this problem, firstly on my own new car, where it had been incorrectly diagnosed as needing a new ecu, secondly here http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=105390 , and one of Russ's customers last Sunday.
There is information relating to this problem in BMW circles, whereupon the only known cure was to order a new key, however as Russ says, we are able to rescue "scrambled" keys, however the EWS immobiliser would require removal from the car for reprogramming.
