Default Is this a safe practise..

Car, with engine running and a girl of around 7 or 8 alone in the car in the front passenger seat?

Car was near the far end of the car park, from the supermarket - quite a distance. As I made my way on foot through the length of the car park, I met an adult who it seemed might be the owner, so I said 'is that your car' - 'yes, why?'. I replied 'you seem to have left the engine running'. It seemed quite irate that I had pointed out the obvious to him and then replied - 'she is hot, its to keep the a/c on for her, but its OK its locked.

Kids being kids, supposing she had knocked it into gear? Supposing it had caught fire and she was locked in?

I would never have left any kids in a car, engine running or not, nor even left the keys in.

The law says its illegal to leave any vehicle with its engine running unless the driver is in attendance.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Exactly. The worst case scenario doesn't bear thinking about.

I know from personal experience a very good friend of mine a work colleague,
Was at a Kwick fit garage in Staines a few years ago, left his two children in a car while he went in to see about some tyres, his car caught fire and both the children were burnt to death,

Not just me over reacting then

Yes, it was hot (25C outdoors), but it was nice and cool in the store, so why not take his child in with him if she was too hot?
