Less than a 2 mile radius of your house would be my definition, but there are no actual boundaries as far as I know.

Not so sure about using local authority boundaries. Half a mile west of us is the boundary with Shropshire and half a mile north west is the boundary with Cheshire. Heading east is Stoke.

Local Authority boundaries do not come into the equation of keeping to your local area. It is purely distance. |

I totally agree, indeed we haven't been more than 500yds from the house for the last month or so. However some people have suggested that 'local' means staying within you local authority area, but if you live on a border that doesn't make too much sense.

Common sense would dictate distance, but in the current situation LA boundaries do matter as each area has its own tier restrictions (outside of lockdown), plus they can form a distinction between enforcing authorities, who should be singing from the same hymn sheet, but inevitably don't.

What is 'local' is very subjective, depending on where you are located and how big your world is. Those living in towns needn't travel far to fulfil their basic errands, whereas those more rural or in villages like Madeley often need to travel some miles to do the same.
