Wonderful work, in particular I like the way that he's hand crafted the repair sections. Perhaps the club should approach Expressed Panels (https://www.steelpanels.co.uk/) to see if they would make up a batch? Certainly would make life easier for all those that can't get to Tom.

Any decent panel beater coach builder would be able to make these up unfortunately there few and far between nowadays.

Many garages who take on repairs just weld a patch on and not interested in taking any time or care to make it look right.

Being a coach builder myself I appreciate the work that goes into doing repairs like that just wish I had a place to offer a service like this.

Last I heard he'd had his workshop ransacked and a lot of his tools stolen so it's good to see he's back in business.
No doubt there's an even longer queue for his services than before.

Had my offside rear sill done 18 months ago. It seems the offside rears are the most prone to rot. Mine started with one small rust bubble around the jacking point but a similar area to the one shown here was cut out. There is a lot going on behind the scenes on these cars and if not treated its a killer.

Default Tom Hobbs Sills

I think this thread is well worth bumping up the forum every now and again, this will then highlight the problem of the two rear sills on our cars, also it shows the excellent repair work that ( Tom Hobbs )carries out when the sills are done in the correct way.

When mine need doing I will be giving him a call & if I have to wait months then so be it, you can of cause purchase the ready made sills from Tom through the club and get someone else to weld them on for you.

I am in the frame of mind whom is better than the person who forms the sill part, as can be seen at the beginning of this thread the quality of Toms work, so yes he is the man for me hopefully.
