In the end I bought some ‘Longbridge’ droplinks from Mat at DMGR’s, yes pricey at £80 inc delivery but these should last the same as the original ones and have a 4yr warranty. So for the extra I think it’s actually more cost effective.
Thanks for your help everyone! Kev

They only have one left for sale . Artic(Steve) is trying Meyle drop links out. Give him a buzz. I have fitted Delphi to mine and after one of them failed at around 4000 miles, they replaced it and I have had no further trouble. Hint:- when you get any make , peel the rubber back and put some Castrol CL grease in the joint. When you use the grease, you will see why I use that particular Castrol product. It sticks like s***r to the bearing surfaces.

Thanks for that! Just out of interest, what is the best grease to use? The Castrol CL or Copper Grease? Or is there any other that would be more suitable?

Has anybody had the original factory ones wear out i.e. knocking, or are they just replaced when the boots perish?
I have thought that adding new boots over the originals would allow them to carry on being used.

I use CL grease because it says on the tin that it is ‘sticky’. If you get a tin,be careful where you drop some as it is a bit like getting toffee off. It is not like toffee, but it really sticks and is very greasy. It clings to whatever you put it on.Ideal for droplinks in my opinion, that’s why I use it, and in a good many other locations.

Mine were not worn out but were replaced in a round of ‘preventative maintenance. If it ain’t broke comes to mind. One of them gave up the ghost after 4000 miles. It was replaced by the retailer. It has not been fitted because I had to take it off and replace it with one of those I took off. Think they had done somewhere around 90000 miles. The new one is still working ok, along with the 90000 miler that I put back on. I still have the other original one just in case.

Hi Steve. Sorry I thought you were testing a pair of Meyle. I think unipart are ok. I have had their rear wishbone bushes on for around 4/5 years, and they seem ok at the mo.

I went through. 2 sets of boots before I changed my original links for meyle ones at 146 k miles .
And to be honest 1-4 year warranties are pretty worthless as to me that's sub 30k miles. So not a lot compared to the originals. ,😉 C QUOTE=Bolin;2665057]Has anybody had the original factory ones wear out i.e. knocking, or are they just replaced when the boots perish? C. Just had Meyle HD fitted to mine a couple of weeks ago. The Originals had perished rubbers but worked fine.
