A/C not cold + rad fan not working. Connection?
As it says - I was wondering whether the radiator fan not coming on would cause the air conditioning not to blow cold, or whether I'm looking at something else?
i.e. if I replace the fan and motor, will my a/c work again? With a/c set to auto I don't get the fan coming on (although it did a few weeks ago when i did the wiring mod) and the a/c/ just blows ambient temperature air. Any advice appreciated, as usual! (2000 75 CDT 2.0) Cheers! Angus |

<edit>OK, partly to answer my own question - I eventually found a thread saying that if the gas in the system is low then the fan won't turn on.
Guess I better find a local a/c fixing place and get them to run a pressure test with dye on the system. BUT FIRST ... might anything have been disconnected or knocked during a thermostat/water pump changing operation, cos that was done recently ... Angus |

If the Rad fan is not working then you will get no cold air when stationary, once on the move the cold air will return if this is not the case then there is a problem with the A/C

The air-con condenser loses its fins, cannot cool down the gas, and then sensors take over and cut the pump etc. Would suggest you check this before getting a re-gas done, otherwise you'll end up paying twice. Mick |

I'll have a look later. Thanks.
On a slight tangent, but similar subject, this is a radiator I took out of a Celica I had (it was like this when I bought it!): Angus |

Go to KwikFit and get their 'Colder or your money back' refill. If the aircon works afterwards, it'll cost you £40. If it doesn't work, it's free and you have got the recharge to take to the next step. This is the fan system.
