Fan operation question
I used to know the answer to this but seem to have forgotten, so can someone remind me.
What should the fan be doing (running all the time / kicking in at a certain temperature / doing something dependent on exterior temperature etc) 1/ when I have the aircon set to AUTO, and 2/ when it's set to ECON. The vehicle is an X-plate 2.5 and has had a 2-speed fan with gold resistor in place of the original 3-speed for the last couple of years. I don't think there's anything wrong with it but the engine temperature does seem to fluctuate a lot more in urban use when the ECON setting is in use.

It's a pleasure to have the opportunity to remind you Russell!

2) In ECON mode the fan will run according to the coolant temperature. For the KV6 this is at 100˚C. Quote:
I hope this helps. Please come back to me if anything is still unclear. Simon

Many thanks Simon.
It peaks at 101° so it's doing what it should. Clearly some residual paranoia on my part after my camshaft end cap failure a couple of months ago.
