2.5 V6 Auto 75 - Idle Revs Dropped
I bought my car a few days ago and it's the first petrol one I've had. I was quite surprised as the idle revs felt quite high (about 1,000 rpm), and as soon as you lift your foot off the break it went off quit fast compared to my diesels. I know there is more torque. Today, while waiting at a junction, the revs dropped and it nearly stalled. I quickly put it in neutral and it stopped the stall, with the revs idling at about 600 rpm. Home was only 5 minutes away but after this the car continued to idle at 600 rpm at each junction whether in Neutral or Drive (brakes on).

Turn the ignition key to position 2 do not start it, and depress the throttle pedal fully five times in succession.
Turn off the ignition, then start the car. Regards And thanks to MarinaBrian for the tip |

That procedure is from RAVE for the MEMS3 engine management fitted to 1.8 litre cars. It is to set the 'closed throttle position'. It apparently doesn't apply to the Siemens 2000 engine management fitted to the KV6 engine. I quote from RAVE: "The ECM does not require the 'closed throttle position' to be set. It will learn the closed throttle position over a short period of time and adapt itself to use this value". Simon
