Default Heya! Whats the performace like( CDTi)

Hi, just bought a 2005 CDTi, and was wondering what the performance should be like? Having come from a Citroen C5 2.2 twin turbo (lots failed for its mot, and electrical fault), the 75 feels some what breathless and certainly hasn't got the get up and go.

A hard one to explain as what feels fast to one person feels slow to another I wouldn't call it fast in today's standards, and I'm sure it will feel slower than your old Citroen. First thing to check would be if you have the 116 or 131 model, the 116 model is pretty slow and gutless. If you do find you have the 116 model you can have the 131 map uploaded to your car by most t4 operators, and there is also a 160 map option offered by a couple traders on here.

If you want the best power possible then a custom map is the best option. Reidy maps offer a very good remap for our diesels, and more recently saws tuning has proven to be good as well.

Also would be worth getting the car on a t4 for a health check first to see how well it is running, a good service helps. And also worth reading through the common issues with diesels such as the intercooler o rings and the blocked egr and clogged up inlet manifold which affects performance

Hi Simon.
check that the intercooler O-rings are all intact not leaking, also any hoses, when was it last serviced, if you do not know change all the filters air PCV, once these have been done contact one of the T4 Guru's Mariana Brian, Big Russ, and seek out a 160 upgrade for ours cars you will not go wrong.

Made a massive difference on mine it felt far more alive and sprightly after cleaning, it was probably at least 25% blocked when I first cleaned it.

Performance is **** usually even when good.

The barest minimum of acceptability is the 160 remap, on a PERFECTLY functioning engine/intake/etc.

Which model do you have ? The 135 is the lowest of what it should have come with but sadly theres still some 116s running around

On the M47R there's a couple of common bits that can easily rob you of poke.

MAF sensor - tend to go out of spec and under read so the engine limits fuel injection. Often causing a serious lake of performance under 2k rpm. Unplugging is a quick way the home DIYer can check

EGR - gunky, horrible and can cause some woes. Take off clean out and disconnect if you'd like to avoid it happening again.

Intercooler O rings - replace with the uprated vitron ones to ensure you're getting all the boost available.

Fuel pumps - More common on the twin pump system so you're probably okay, but if low pressure isn't high enough power gets reduced.

I've probably missed some other bits but thats off top of my head some of the more common causes.

It could also be that the stock ECU is a bit tame for what you're used too. I can offer ECU remapping that'll make it more lively and should you be having MAF sensor problems I can switch it off should you wish.

Drop marinabrian a PM, he can remap your ECU via post.
