CDTI engine oil capacity
Hello everyone,
The 204D2 engine holds 6.75l of oil? I changed the oil filter, the PCV filter and the car it's at max line on the dipstick at 6.4l of oil after driving it for 100km to let the oil enter the oil filter good. The level it's the same with the engine cold or when it's at operating temperature I turn it off and wait 15 minutes to check the level. Do I need to put 6.75l of oil or I will overfill the engine? Thanks! |

Just fill to the max line. You will never get all of the old oil out when draining so the amount you have put back in sounds about right.

I never fill my cars right up to the max oil line, I prefer to have it at least 3/4 from minimum line to max, on the V6 it helps with the oil not reaching the manifold so much.
Also when i change the oil on the diesel i always put in 6ltr from the off, start the car let it run for about 5 minutes let it settle for about 20 minutes then i top it up to the 3/4 mark on the oil dip stick.

As mentioned the 6.75L stated is from dry - oil can pool in various parts of the engine, and coats everything with a thin film, and that accounts for the difference. |

Also, as with many engines remove the dipstick and give the level time to settle before gently re-inserting the dipstick to check the actual level. As above I view the 'Max' line as the absolute maximum and never aim to fill it all the way to that unless it's a car I know will burn/leak significant amount of oil over time.
