I hope the fact that Derek is so highly thought of and all these messages can bring some crumb of comfort to Lillian. I didn't get to meet Derek (other end of the country) but still feel as if I've lost a close friend. Wish I could do more than just offer sympathetic words.

Such sad news to be reading.
Unfortunately, I never got to meet Derek in person.....really wish I had. I considered him a great online friend especially when I was job hunting, he always wished me luck for interviews and always found the time to ask how things went.......definitely one of the good guys. You will be missed greatly Derek and thoughts and condolences go out to Lillian and family at this very sad time. R.I.P. Windrush

Rest in peace sir, our thoughts go out to Lillian and Derek's family at this sad time.
A nicer man you could have not wished to meet, a gentleman in every sense of the word. I broke the news of Derek's passing to my eldest daughter, who had always found his welcoming posts, and birthday wishes to be very endearing, and she was in tears. The forum will certainly be a poorer place without his presence, please accept our deepest condolences. Brian Chris and Katie Last edited by marinabrian; 18th December 2017 at 14:39.. |

I don't think I ever met Derek in person but I obviously knew of the gentleman from the forum etc and it's a sad loss to the club and society to hear such news. My sincere condolences to his family at such a sad loss.
