Thank you all!

Yes its the 131 bhp version, and I`ve ordered some 7 litres of 5W40 Mobile 3000 , along with air/oil and fuel filters (awesome 52% ECP code that still worked!)

Will try the MAF tommorrow , did the same with a previous diesel. Can the EGR be blanked off, and if so would the EML come on?

Unplug the EGR actuator solenoid first, as unplugging the MAF sensor disables EGR operation and masks EGR defects.

The EGR can be bypassed quite easily without issue, something like this will do the job nicely LINK

Finally MAF sensors very rarely fail with a lower than normal output, it is almost always the entire opposite.........something to bear in mind when fault finding

Once again thank you all! Unplugging the MAF made a difference, so it seems it needs to be revved a little more than the C5 (which has max torque under 2000 rpm). Service parts are coming from ECP. Does the gearbox oil need changing at all (no stamp in the book), and , it does seem a little noisy engine wise in the cabin? I`ll post elsewhere about spec - it has leather, electric windows but is apparently a `Classic` spec!

Gearbox is "fill for lyfe bruv" but I would change the oil personally, it is so easy to do with a small funnel and short bit of garden (clean) hose.

5w30 Full Synthetic made my engine a little quieter, (probably placebo like most of the tales on car internet forums) and is actually what BMW specify for the M47 version over the Rover one. Why Rover specced 40w for pretty much everything under the Sun I do not quite know.

Shouldnt need "revved" if its a fully functioning Diesel, it should pull 'hard' (for the CDTi) from about 2000rpm, although some people say 1800, all of mine have been ~2000.

Service schedule is here: https://the75andztclub.co.uk/index.php?thepage=techdata

download the schedule - manual gearbox oil is every 90,000 miles or six years (whichever comes first), auto boxes are every 60,000 or four years.
