Default More MPG...

I have now noticed(if accurate) my fuel guage moving down a lot slower since I put in different unleaded grade, recording mileage.... just keeping fingers crossed..... oh! and the idle is a lot smoother.

Having previously used supermarket fuel I have found branded fuel gives better mpg. I asked my oilman what the difference was. He said the supermarkets hit the additive buttons, biofuel etc at the oil suppliers, whereas they just get the regular diesel. My mechanic swears by BP Ultimate especially if your car isn’t running right on supermarket fuel.

That Esso Synergy unleaded is good stuff.
The supply out of Wallingford will be petrol, without being diluted by that evil ethanol.

A bit like Sainsbury’s Vodka and Smernoff you drink 1/2 bottle of the cheaper brand and you are drunk but drink the Smernoff you have drunk less.

I’m going on experience so ignore me lol!

Now there’s an idea, cheap vodka in the tank! Probably cheaper than V power too!

I couldn't agree more - for engines not designed for ethanol the less, the better. Hence the bike always gets the best branded available and never anything marked E10: It's vapour (the ethanol) as soon as it get's to the carbs. And that is if it survives living in the fuel tank without disappearing. In the car I always noticed that even filling regularly with BP ultimate the difference in mpg on the old commute (25 miles dual carriageway each way) always made up for the difference in price between that and the sainsburys fuel.

Ignore the gauge as an indicator of this type . You can make the gauge rise if driving more economically, likewise make the warning light go off again when running low. It's particularly noticeable nearer to the full reading. The gauge uses live mpg data along with the float readings from the tank.
