If nobody wants it then nobody wants it. I can't force somebody to buy it if they dont want it so if it doesn't sell then its going to be SORN'd, insurance removed and parked up somewhere.

As to the OP, you have the Parkers guide and the prices in the classifieds.
There is really no point in arguing either of these. The main question is what is it worth to you as you'll be forking out the cash for it. Mr.D has valuations that may look low to some owners. Owners have a price in mind that may be higher than the value put on it. The fact is there are not many made and even less on the road. That is something you can't always capture in a valuation. Best thing is to set yourself a limit, go look for the car, and if you find one that fits the bill, buy it. It may be 20% over-priced to the general public but could be a bargain in your eyes. Advice in these discussions is just what it is......................advice. It's up to you to decide. Good luck in your quest |

Just remember, your buying a ZTV8 of which less then 1000 were made( and probably as few as 500 remaining !), as opposed to a mass produced car with production runs of 100's of thousands.
It makes pricing / valuing individual cars very hard, of course buyers want as much as possible, and sellers want to pay as little as possible, couple that with time of year and fuel costs it certainly is a very murky pool to peer in. However, if you have a budget in mind, and you find the car that ticks all the boxes, then hey that's what it's worth AS for Paul with 881, I feel for him as I was in a similar position with my first V8. It's a cracking car in a good strong colour and as importantly only 3 from the end of the production run. You only have to look at 30 year old sporty Fords to see where the prices of these cars will go (Probably ) after all who'd pay £10K for a MKIII Escort

To be quite honest, and as usual, quite frank, and in no way trying to offend you, but this must be about the most stupid question I have seen in a long time.
This is not a seasonal fruit, so there is no good or bad time. This is not an investment, where you can expect a certain return, so it should not be considered a such. This is something that you say you would like, so it would be a case of, yes I have the money, or no I don't. And what the hell has Parker's valuations got to do with it? They most likely have a couple of prices, and then a standard way of deriving other prices for cars in different conditions. That might work if they are selling VW in the thousands, but surely it has little meaning because there are only normally a few V8s on the market at the time. So step out in the wide world, and make a ****** decision, if you can and want, buy one and enjoy, if you can't or won't, don't and don't. I have just lost a friend, wrote himself and his Healey 100/4 off. Life is sometimes just too short. |

As Kaiser points out if you want and can have then is the price a issue? I know when I bought my 260 I paid a lot more than the price's mentioned in this thread
True I have a supercharged version so may be a bit different from the standard car but after all it's your hard earned your parting with so go and give it a go - you wont regret it !! Andrew |
