Default Rover 75 2.0 CDTI Connoisseur SE Auto

Cooling fan issue - when the air con is switched on the cooling fan kicks in every 20 secs on full power and my car sounds like an airplane getting ready for take off..!!
If i turn the air con off or to economy everything is fine.
I'm not sure how many speeds my fan has 2 or 3? and if the resistor fix I have seen mentioned works on this model?
Any help or advise would be much appreciated.

sounds like you need a new low speed fan resistor
