Add a few thousand like me, and I'm pretty sure it'll still feel perfect.

The reason I do this rather than use the B&B item made for the 75/ZT is simple - B&B simply rebrand the LuK item when selling directly for the 75/ZT. I've seen a good few LuK Slaves fail, and it's not something I'd risk selling to be honest. On every LuK I've seen failed, it's the release bearing that's overheated and melted through the rest of the plastic Slave cylinder assembly. Exactly - and thank you. They're definitely a solid item - now have sold them for over 2 years (eBay previous to being a Trader on here) and not had a single return yet. 3 of my friends are also on the same, and all happy.

I know most of these come pre-filled, and I know that bleeding the system is up there as being one of the worst jobs, but having had mine bled when a new (not pre-filled) slave was fitted,, and seeing the dreadful condition of the fluid bleeding out ( car was 6 years old ), I'd say it's possibly worth doing.

I only fit luk and have fitted hundreds and never have I had one fail mat how many have you fitted andy |

I feel that Luk have been getting an undeserved bad press on this forum from a few individuals without justification. I have challenged on a number occasions for facts. Our current and previous CDT's both had replacement Luk 4-piece clutches and have behaved perfectly. I would only ever have Luk fitted to my 75's. It's a shame when a quality manufacturer gets bad press undeservedly because it means that ultimately we will end up with only cheap rubbish parts available for our cars. As a side note, from one of the posts above it would appear that B&B have considerable confidence in Luk slaves made for the 75. So much so that they sell it under the B&B name. 2 fail on my own cars (all LuK stickered up and receipts for being less than 2 years old in both cases) and a good few members discussing clutch replacement - including 2 more done at my own garage and the knackered LuK items removed.
Both showing the same symptoms, bluing of the bearing face and release bearing, showing excessive heat (and subsequent melting of the plastic carrier). Without justification indeed... Make up your own mind folks, but I'm offered B&B and LuK at similar wholesale rates, and choose B&B all day long. Just not something I'd like to risk.

LuK clutch and slave cylinder fitted Tazu metal clutch master cylinder bought (not yet fitted) Gearbox oil replaced with Honda MTF3 (MTF-94) Taken from the 'Rosie' progress thread last year before I bought the car. There's no denying the slave bearing is whirring, so what's gone wrong? |
