Default MOT Question?

On a car with a rear wiper does the washer jet need to work for an MOT pass?

No, the rear wiper is not actually part of the test, so the washers don't need to work

Same goes for reversing lights and spare wheels

Thank you Brian.

The car in question is my coupe. The jet itself is clear and the pump is sounding but no water flow.

Are there any known pinch points on the 200 series that you know of?

Hmm, not off hand Mick the washer works on both of my R8, but not the 45.

How about disconnecting the pipe at the front and blowing through with compressed air

Thinking back I had a similar problem on the 45 and it turned out to be an acumulation of debris in the jet housing fixed to the roof.I cant remember whether the roof lining needs to be turned back or the housing can be removed from above the car for cleaning.

Is the jet in the tailgate? Pinch point is usually around the hinge area on these types of rear washer

No it's on the roof an inch or so back from the rear window. The coupe doesn't have a tailgate, just a normal boot.

There's possibly the non-return valve that's chocker.

Try taking the pipe off the jet and see if any water pumps out, might just be a worn pump with very low pressure?

You were spot on TC.Thanks.

After removing the roof jet I found there was no flow of screenwash through the supply pipe.I didn't know there was a NRV fitted untill I checked Rimmers diagram.
