Default &5 Body Control UNit

Hi, I have a Rover 75 2.5v6 Conn Se auto face lift 54 plate had from new with 31k miles. Recently suffered from a sun roof water leak which has saturated from passenger carpets. At the weekend it had erratic problems with windows, starting ( immobilizer?) wipers, displays etc and the BCU appears to be dry and no signs of water ingress under the glove box ( removed) nor at the ECU plenum. Have had similar problems as few years back after a boot leak and this rectified after drying out. My question is that is the fault likely to be the BCU or is there other parts that may be affected. Drivers side seems fine and hopefully have fixed the source of the leak ( blocked pipe I think). If the BCU will this dry out? By the way, to get the car to start I have to run it through the gears several times. All this is very odd as the problem only started a few days after the water leak not at the time. I have sent a similar question to the Technozen website link. I dont want to scrap the car as it drives lovely. Thanks for any help, Elaine

welcome to the forum. the sunroof drains are know to get blocked and cause water to appear in passenger footwell. I suspect if you check the How To section there will be advice on clearing the drain
As you say plenum is dry, I cant offer any other help.

good luck

That sounds like the selector switch or cable needs attention. This mechanism prevents the starter motor energising unless the transmission selector is in the Park or Neutral positions. Does that explain what you're experiencing?

As for the wipers and windows, since you've suffered water ingress it's possible that a connector has become damp. Take whatever steps you can to encourage the interior to warm up. Using the air conditioning with recirculation selected should help, and see how it goes over the coming week.

Default Drying out?

The electrics appear to be sorting themselves out now as everything apparent seems to work although still having issues starting. The car wont start but after running thru the gears selector several times it then comes to life so it sounds like an inhibitor switch fault but this only started at exactly the same time as had issues with the BCU and a bit coincidental as they are not linked I dont think? Any ideas anyone? Thanks.
