Alternative heated washer jets
Not sure if this should be in the techy bit but mods please re-locate if you see fit.
Washer jets ..(heated), I have heard that the 75 heated jets aren't that efficient, I don't know this for sure but it's what I have heard. My solution to this 'potential' problem is an old trick I used to use back in the 80's..... buy an extra long length of appropriate bore washer tubing from your local motorist shop, enough to reach from the pump then to coil around the first hottest coolant pipe approximately six times and then on to your washers. (secure the coil from unwinding by using either tape or cable ties etc As the fluid is pumped through the pipe when using washers it is heated as it wizzes round the coil of tubing and on to the screen... simples. It worked very well for me in the winter months when running my capri at well below freezing. May be of use to someone, not a difficult or non reversible mod. |

I only suggested the mod because the heated variants on both are not supposed to be very effective (or so I'm lead to believe) so just thought I'd share the idea of a mod I did years ago that really is very effective. Thanks for the info anyway. |

The alternative being buy screen wash liquid for use in minus degree temperatures.
Even heated normal wash can freeze in very low temperatures whereas the correct stuff can resist freezing for much longer.------ |

Good call, going to buy the BMW 1 series items anyway as they are 'fan-mist' spray type and the heater part is supposed to be good plus ... they are a direct fit with no messing about with pipe sizes etc:
