Quite normal and all 75's should do this!

PHEW

That's reassuring, I've been wondering what that weird noise was every time every time the key was turned.
i thought it was something shorting behind the dash

Weird Steve. No sorry, that sounds like me saying you're weird steve!!
I mean that's weird steve about the sound travelling. I'm actually hoping that to be utterly amazed and find that it is something making a noise but not where I think it is!

No No No they won't do for the top corner of door card or for the kick plate !!
I've asked that seller to refrain from selling those clips for that use.
(obviously fell on deaf ears)
The correct part number is EYC000380
Readily available but more expensive.

No point in getting something cheaper if it doesn't do the job

A lot of my rattles and buzzes went away after sorting out my lower engine mount, and replacing the front springs. Although I think this had to do with fixing the upper bearing mount on the front shocks.
The door card does still rattle at 1800 at times.

The car is now quiet at idle and on smooth roads.-for now

No, these are what cause door cards to rattle and pull loose. These are not strong enough for door cards or sill plates.

Look for Fir Tree type

Rover 75 door card clips part no EKM100270 also used on kick plate trims.

Search in ebay with the part no EKM100270

Well Craig I'm no nearer to solving it. Jules mentioned roof strut and windscreen strip but it's neither of those. It's definitely coming from around the area above the steering column. Very frustrating. I feel like (but won't do!) emptying a can of expanding foam all around that area to sort it!!

Default Oh dear

Due to the 'hijacking' of my thread about a dashboard buzz with some unrelated stuff entirely I think this thread needs to be put to sleep! No answer to the buzzing noise so I guess I'll have to live with it.

You could follow this link which is a search of the forum using 'Dashboard Buzzing' to find other posts on he subject

http://www.google.com/custom?hl=en&c...&start=10&sa=N

Mind you I think a rattling Body Control Unit (BCU) is a likely cause as some years ago it was a very common problem with an easy fix - a piece of foam.

I was sure I had this from my dash board. It turned out to be the illuminated sunvisors. I think it's the connectors inside. Try moving them around when it's happening. Hope you catch it. I know how annoying it it not being able to trace it.
