Quad exhaust fitment on a standard 75/ZT
If anyone has put a V8 style quad exhaust system on their standard 75 or ZT, how did you go about securing the driver's side rear box/pipe?
Do the exhaust suppliers generally weld an additional bracket to the underside of the car to suit? I'd prefer fabricating a bolt-on hangar assembly myself, as I don't fancy letting welders run amok underneath my car But would like to see what way others have found of mounting the V8 style exhausts.. Cheers, Karl. |

Its been done many times. Google images will give you a few pictures. Plenty of room on the drivers side (after the Carbon Cannister - I think that what it is) is moved to the side.
If its a ZT, you'll need the driver side heat shield which don't come up for sale very often.

No offence to those who have done this before but to my eyes it looks wrong on anything that can't justify the extra pipes. Too much of a hark back to go-faster stripes and the like.
IMO, better you spend your time and cash on preserving what you already have; rust proofing etc.

i have duel exhausts on my 190. Just fitted a hanger to the driver side.
Probably the hardest part would be getting a V8 exhaust surround for the driver side rear bumper. Heres mine. It gets a lot of complimentary comments [/url]

Thanks everyone for your thoughts..
No issue with the RHS trim piece (one sitting in storage for the past few years). And I've already spent some considerable time on the rust proofing side of things etc. - although, I still have lots left to do I think the 75/ZT body shape really suits the dual/quad exhausts look, although maybe not quite as good on the 75.. Still, I'm keen to give it a try Cheers, Karl. |
