IR Illuminator power supply.
Hi all,
After the three times my side windows on the car were smashed I bought an IP camera it came with 28 infra red lights for night viewing. Noticed lately that about a third of the lights are not working which is a bit disappointing as it wasn't cheap and only gets used at night for about six hours. Have contacted the makers and am waiting for a response to my complaint, in the meantime I have bought a low voltage IR illuminator, basically a stand alone light source, but it didn't come with a power supply. What I need to know is which power supply do I need. From the installation guide it says.... Low Voltage Power Supply. Input 12-24V DC/24V AC Consumption 11W max. Current 0.9A at 12v or 0.5A at 24V Have looked on Amazon and E-bay but don't really have a clue what I am looking for. Help please.

I would look for something like a 12volt 2amp adapter from someone like Maplin or other electrical component company. I may be wrong, but that's how I read it. Someone else will be along soon to either confirm I'm right (or tell me to shut up as I'm wrong )

If you've got an old laptop power supply they are usually 15-20v DC and would supply sufficient current (amperage) for your needs. In fact they are great power supplies for many home projects.

It seems Jeff has sorted you out Bob however should you need any other bits and bobs I can recommend the guys at the linked ebay store. They are in Thames road and are very helpful.

The 12v battery in your car would be suitable. So I would connect it to where ever you are connecting the camera in the car.
