much as i have hated BT in the past (had to take them to small claims), I got my Infinity setup about 2 months ago.
Was quoted as being able to get 66mb/s. Fitted, and i'm getting 78mb/s constant. Friend in same village was quoted at just a tad slower than mine and he's also getting 78 so overall we are both pretty chuffed. One thing to note, whilst it's mega quick, websites you goto aren't able to supply that kind of bandwidth to all users so real world you may not notice it being 10 times quicker etc, but where it comes into it's own is when I have a download going on, me and wife are playing internet games and the tv is streaming content and the sky box is doing it's background on-demand downloads and nothing slows down. For me it's a winner, but I am on the top package with unlimited usage etc. |

I have plusnet with fibre optic, didnt ralise how good it is until it crashed at Xmas. Problem was the BT modem that plusnet use, I used my brother's BT hub pro tem via 'hotspot' , until Plusnet (BT) could come to my house to fix with a new router. On balance Plusnet was quicker for downloads by a good margin, uploads about the same. BT are doing good deals at the moment half price fibre optic £7.50 for 6 months then 15.00 thereafter.

Recently changed from Virgin to BT, as they had laid fibre optic cables to our village!
The plus side, is that we've gone from getting 5Mb download (on a 3Mb) line and now get 38Mb regularly, on a 40 Mb line! The downside however, is that there customer service, is even worse than Virgin and 9 times out of 10, you'll get someone who can barely speak, let alone understand English and as a consequence, if you do have a problem, (we had a slight one with our e-mail) unless you get an English one (rare) they won't be able to even understand your problem, let alone be able to do anything about it! But that aside, very pleased with the change so far and the Wi Fi is excellent! |

Got BT Infinity here, get around 40Mb pretty much throughout the day. Only ever gone down for about 5 minutes twice, usually at night, presumably for maintenance.
Best thing about BT is the FON service. Can find a BT FON Wi-Fi access point just about anywhere, as you can use everyone elses Wi-Fi who are also BT customers. |

Are you on VM Cable or DSL?
Cable did have some over-utilisation issues in some parts of the country, but I thought they'd pretty much got things sorted. DSL will slow down when it's busy though. Just run this test, 7pm on a Friday evening. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3222473691 Downloaded a few things this afternoon, and was hitting 131mb down!

Nice upload speed Neil!
Come the summer we're all getting a speed hike, mine will go to 152mb. I must live in an area with light utilisation, as I ususlly get 10% more than advertised, so that'll take me to almost 170mb
