Default Thaaaats progress.

Just been reading the road test on the latest Ford Kuga, so, it costs £27,045 for the basic model, the power plant is a 2.0 TDCI with a top speed of 122 mph. Fuel consumption is an average 45.6mpg rising to 51.4 when cruising and a creditable 38.2mpg around town. It also has ( this must be something new) Duel zone electronic air temperature control. Say no more.

But how much would it have cost when new (allowing for inflation)?

What will the electronic air temperature control be having a duel with?

Due to my wifes work & the milage she has to do, I have been toying with the idea of buying her an almost new Ford Fiesta.

They had one in my local Ford garage, 1 year old & only 1500 miles on the clock for £10,339. The dealer said "this is the Titanium model, top of the range. It has everything, auto dipping mirror, auto windscreen wipers, air con, parking sensors, Alloy wheels, electric folding mirrors, cruise control"

I replied "oh, almost as many extras as my 10 year old Rover 75 then"

He looked a bit dumbstruck at that.

Tis poor indeed - especially for manufacturers figures.
My new ashtray tourer has manufacturers MPG of 60.1 (combined) and extra urban of 68mpg

After 10000 miles I am getting real figures of 58.3 and 65.4
Its not that the Kuga is suffering due to its weight either its 1690kg where my ashtray isn't far away at a touch over 1500kg

For a 4 wheel drive SUV its economical, but I agree its not much better than a 75/ZT diesel!
The Ford Kuga starts at £20995 for a 2 wheel drive and rises to £33245 for a 4 wheel drive Titanium X Sport powershift (auto)
I do work for Ford by the way
