Default Vehicle Inspection Report Results

Hi guys,

I used http://www.mviuk.co.uk (I'm not associated with them at all) to inspect the rover I have a sizeable deposit down on a £2000 Rover 75 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1811630136...84.m1438.l2649.

Pretty impressed with their service which included an HPI and MOT history check for £150 but sadly they advised not to buy the car. Here is the report: http://www.netclient.co.uk/Report.pdf

Any thoughts before I start trying to claw my deposit back?

Put £100 on a Visa Debit and additional £400 on MasterCard. Hoping I can get both back now.

Glad to have caught this pre-purchase but gutted to be back at square one again!

They certainly seem to have done a decent report, and would agree with them regarding advising not to buy, it sounds in very poor state bodily and mechanically, I fear the clutch is on its way out and possibly the crankshaft pulley, so with just those two items you could spend £1000 and it sounds like its been used as a dodgem car.

Did you tell the seller that you were leaving the deposit subject to an Inspection?

Excellent comprehensive report if not a little picky in places but rather that than gloss over stuff, well worth the money I would say

Yes, pending inspection if anything big was found. I agreed a that the car is over a decade old so it would be unreasonable to cancel the sale due to minor issues.

He relisted it yesterday; a day before I received the report and roughly the time I understood the inspection occurred. I took that as a bad omen. When I mentioned it today he said this was automatically done by eBay which is not a feature I'm aware of.

He's going to ring me back to confirm; something about considering going to a garage to contest the findings and if they disagree I am still on the hook. It is looking like I may end up having to cancel the cc payment and try to do the same with debit card. Not sure of my chances on that and deeply regret having put that on a debit card.
