Default Just bought a -

WiFi IP Camera, well actually a few weeks ago now.

For those not in the know - It connects to your router wired or wirelessly and provides a continuous stream of video. You can set it to watch for movement in the frame and optionally upload the pictures onto a server or website, making them tamper proof from a security point of view, should there be a break in.

There I was 70 miles away yesterday in the caravan in the middle of nowhere, with the laptop with its 3G internet connection and I could log into the camera, turn its head up and down, left or right and see exactly what was happening at home via the camera in real time, via a web interface and browser. By logging into the server, I could look at the series of triggered photos it had stored, on the internet server. Looking through them, there were a series of photos of me, walking the caravan out and coupling it up for the trip, posty delivering mail, the odd cat sneaking up the drive etc..

I bought one originally from China a couple or so years ago, but it failed within hours, so that was sent back for a refund.

This one bought in the UK, seems to be lasting well so far. It has been on test for a few weeks and I'm still getting the hang of and tweaking its settings. £40 versus the £70 I paid for the one from China.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

They are all gone long since. It was a remnants sale - what ever they had left on the shelves un sold after one of Aldi or Lidl's special offers. The name on the box is Maginon, in Germany.

That's a shame. I'll have to have a look around for something similar.

Thanks Harry
I see that one has an sd slot for recording, so I guess you don't even need a pc. Just a wifi router, and then I could use my iPad for viewing

I want something like this to look at my greenhouse with some kind of controller so I can turn on a solenoid valve to water them. With our terrible summers my automatic timer system just isn't hacking it. Far better to log in from anywhere and actually see what is needed. So do you know how to make all this stuff happen?

Now there's a good challenge. You would need an IP relay similar to this
http://www.hw-group.com/support/an21/index_en.html
Then you would have to run an Ethernet cable from your router down to your greenhouse, and connect the solenoid to the relay

Have a look at this
