Commute to work... How far do you travel?
The OH and I are looking at moving house. At present I walk to work each day which is about a quarter of a mile down the road and SWMBO drives about 8 miles to get to work.
A house we are looking into is about 22 miles away from my workplace, and it should take about 35-40 minutes to get to each day. My question.... Is this too far? How far do you travel each day? Anything that needs to be taken into consideration?

About 15 miles each way, takes around 20 minutes (all single carriage way an dual, no town driving, about 1 miles in heavy traffic)
Prior to that I did 35 miles each way, taking about 45 minutes .. It's quickly got tiring - not the driving itself, just making the working day 1 1/2 hrs longer, especially when doing over time (if I've done my maths right that 15 days a year in the car just to get to work) ... Allot of wasted time Fuel cost got irritating as well Have you looked into traffic conditions, is that 35 minutes at your normal commute times? Given your location will holiday 'drivers' make it longer |

Used to travel 3 1/2 miles to work, changed car to a 75 and was moved, now travel 9 miles to work, and enjoy every mile of driving the 75. The only issue is, it makes it a longer working day when adding extra travel time, especially in traffic. Working shifts mean I miss the traffic and takes about 20 minutes, but in 'rush hour' can be up to an hour each way.

I travel about 20 miles each way to work. Takes about 25-30 minutes. Not too bad.
Used to travel about 45 miles each way, added about 2 hours extra to the working day.

50 miles a day does sound like a long way though when you think of it like that and being a teacher adding that time onto my day each way is going to be hectic. As much as I crave getting behind the wheel of my 75 - it may become quite tiring after a while.

43 miles each way and 2+ hours every day. Unbearable if I didn't have the ZT but would love to be paid enough to take the 75 every day (only take it on high days & holidays). It's ok in the summer but a real drag in winter.

My commute used to be 48 miles each way, I kept it up for 6 months before finally giving in.
My current commute is 17 miles each way, about 25-30 mins each way, just enough time to unwind but no so far as to be a chore.

I'm 30 Miles each way but I go against the main traffic flow so it is an easy 35/40 minute drive.
It is okay in decent weather but still 10/15 minutes more than ideal. Derek
