Default Some help needed, I'm moving to the UK in a month!

Hello everyone, i am in need of some information / help because in the 8 july i will start my new job in the UK, this will be a big step in my life, because i will get a very good job, and i will work with very nice and simpatic people.

My name is Filipe, i have 24 years old and i am from Portugal, i have a nice Trophy Blue MG ZR 105 running with LPG, and i am planing to buy a 75 or a ZT when i move to the UK.

This topic is for asking for some help, because i will need to find an house for rent, and i am not from the UK so i don't know how the things works when its time to rent / search a house and what the conditions that are usually requested.

I will be working in Sheffield, near the Meadowhall shopping centre so i would prefer to find a house in this area, as close as possible to my workplace.

The first thing that i ask is about some recomendations on some good and reliable websites to find property to rent in Sheffield, or if there are someone from here that know a company in Sheffield that arrange these type of things, i appreciate if you told me the name of it.

At the moment i found two good websites where i am looking for a house to rent, these are rightmove.co.uk and primelocation.com, this seems to be good and have some nice deals, and then i have another problem, because i don't know if the asking prices for some houses are overpriced or not?!...

Sorry for my english =|

Thanks for your time and help, i will reply here as soon as i can..

Greetings,

Filipe

The website you've listed would be a good general place to start. Just searching through them will give you a good indicator of the price you should be expecting to pay in a certain area. Should you find getting your own place is out of your budget you could always look at renting a room in a private house.

No need to apologise for your english, it's a damn site better than my portugese. I've seen a lot worse on forums from people who were born in England

http://www.landlordzone.co.uk/forums/forum.php?

That is a good forum if you have specific rental questions you need answering. It's run by landlords, for landlords, however they're happy to answer tenant queries too.

How exciting, expect a big change in the weather in not so sunny Sheffield

I live about 10 miles from Meadowhall, and before you think about a house I would suggest you post the area up you are thinking about. Honestly, there are some really bad parts

Keep away from Tinsley & Grimesthorpe especially

I wouldnt worry about a small commute either, its very accessible and traffic isnt too bad.

I would be looking at the areas I have put on this map

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ms...31822,0.676346

Wish you luck on your travels.

Simon
