My bank used to have a deal that once a certain amount was lodged in every month (our salaries basically) and you made a couple of online transactions (pay my rent, mobile bill etc). we got free banking.

Scrap that now to get it you have to have a credit balance of €3000 sitting in it at all times and never let it drop below that for more than a day to get the deal.

its a joint account so there's 2 cards on it and we are now getting charged 28c for every debit card transaction or to draw out cash pay bills etc. We are both so used to using the debit cards for everything even a coffee and the paper in the mornings and never used to carry cash but after the last fee statement I'm considering getting all my cash out on payday and keeping it under the mattress!

Recent stats from my euro road trip: 1605 miles driven through 5 different countries, 160.7 litres of diesel used giving an MPG of 47.1. Total diesel cost €222, €0.13 per mile

Is Nationwide the Bank that doesn't have Shareholders?

Nat West have always been a Nightmare, I used to get letters from them and then be Charged £25 a Letter. Scumbags.

We are currently with the Co-Operative, but even they are sneaky little ratbags at times. Have to watch the Finances very closely.

They do have shareholders, but they are the members IE the account holders. I've been with them for years. Very good to do business with, very good if you use your card overseas a lot, that for me is worth it on is own.

I have never had a problem with NatWest. Stay in credit and you are charged nothing at all. People only get nasty charges when they take what is not theirs to take.
