Default E-Zee bonnet cable (shuttle) box

This chap lists R75/ZT stuff on ebay from time to time (tourer rear lens fixing kits and digital water temp gauges etc.).

Saw recently that he'd listed a newly designed shuttle box for the bonnet cables (that fixes to the inner offside wing in the engine bay). Having recently purchased new bonnet cables, I thought I might as well give this a go, to see if it's any better. It appears to have thicker walls than the OEM version and seems to be of good sturdy construction.

Nice solid action to the bonnet pull lever now, although that may be more / as much to do with replacement of the bonnet cables (one of my old ones was damaged at the latch assembly).

Few pics attached for your perusal, as I'm sure these will be listed again soon..

P.S: Good time to remember to lube the latches on the slam panel regularly, to make sure they keep a nice free action - puts less pressure on the cables and shuttle box etc.

Cheers,
Karl.

Only 3 were listed and they've all been sold, but I'd expect the seller to have more to sell before long..

Attached is a pdf of the info on the original ebay listing, HTH.

Cheers,
Karl.

Or you could just drill holes in your existing case and put cable ties in and around the ends to stop the cables falling out.

It's only ever the single cable that pulls through the housing, or to be more accurate, pulls out of the keyhole slot.

This is entirely preventable by applying a few turns of insulating tape of your preferred colour to the ferrule of the single cable, thus increasing it's outside diameter, which in turn prevents it from being able to burst inwards and out of it's location slot.

Carry this modification out while you turn the cable shuttle over to face the other way, no drilling, easily achievable by even the most novice owner, and works a like a charm.

I operate the bonnet pull on the ZT much more often than the average owner, and the only time I've been stuck, was when the bonnet cable rotted through inside the latch on the slam panel itself........now overhauled, painted and greased to within an inch of it's life

Good stuff. In fairness, it seems like a well designed piece of kit, with the cable ferrules slotting snugly into their openings at each end of the box.

Brian makes the point of flipping over the shuttle that sits inside the box when you're working at it (be it with this version or your own) - this prevents the cable ends from flipping out of the little shuttle due to the arc of the cable ends at this point. Getting the ends of the cables into the little shuttle that sits inside the box is fiddly - and required a little patience and a few prayers from me

Cheers,
Karl.
