Default Front passenger door handle and backplate

I've spent some time today changing the door handle backplate on NSF door (due to broken torx screw).

Have managed to get the backplate fitted and the chrome outer handle back on. But, the chrome handle (although functioning ok) isn't popping back fully into flush position against the door (sits maybe 5-7mm proud, unless it's pushed fully back).

Any thoughts as to why this might be happening?

Can't see what I might have done wrong (should be fairly simple ).

Cheers,
Karl.
