Default New Rear Suspension Assemblies

Couple of photos attached of the new rear suspension assemblies that are for fitting next week. Also have new rear hubs/bearings and H&R 35mm lowering springs to go on all round.

Have gathered the parts over the past few years and have spent the last few evenings learning how to put the bits and pieces together (+ adding epoxy mastic to outside of subframe and Dynax S50 to the inside of it and the rear upper arms).

Will leave the actual fitting to a professional, who'll be doing renewal of the front subframe and associated suspension assemblies once I sort out the various gathered parts (next week).

Think I'm leaving things a bit too easy for him!

All parts for the front suspension were easily enough sourced and the only parts that I couldn't find for the rear were the four fail-safe washers for the subframe bolts - can probably be fitted without these, but might as well rub down and paint the ones that come off.

Will be really glad to rid the shed of all these parts that have been cluttering the place for the past few years - you can see it's getting pretty tight in there

Cheers,
Karl.

Thanks John

Yeah, fingers crossed my mechanic will put it together the way I want it to go together i.e. properly!

Nice ... but would advise to add some extra protection to all of that or it will be brown in a year and pretty rough looking inside 2-3 years

Thanks Chris.

Yeah, it's not easy keeping these mild steel pieces rust free (the factory paint quality of the suspension parts is pretty abysmal); and we're only delaying the inevitable anyway..

But, I'm open to any and all suggestions..

Cheers,
Karl.

I used thinned waxoyl inside swilled around into all the crevices ,

and a Anti chip stone guard on the outside still looks good after 5 years .

Dinitrol cavity wax inside the arms and the subframe - 3 coats of red oxide primer and a finish with black hammerite smooth paint on the external surfaces -

Thanks for the advice chaps

I've already done the inside of the rear subframe and the rear upper arms with Dynax S50; and treated the outside of the subframe to a good wire-wheeling, before Hydrate 80 and then a good coat of Bilt Hamber epoxy mastic.

Got the front subframe to do now and once everything is fitted, the entire (exposed areas) underside will get treated with Dynax UB.

Loads of work still to do

Cheers,
Karl.
