(04) 75 chrome / stainless mirror covers
As I'm slowly getting through the 'to do' list on my (04) 75 I keep spotting the chrome/stainless mirror covers on other 75's.
I'm really taken by them and fancy fitting them to my own 75. Are there model specific years for these or are they a (one year fits all ?). My car is an 04 - non elec folding and would like to know if I have to look for a year specific set. Can anyone advise on these before I start looking for some. Thanks. |

Earlier cars had bullets, later they were changed to skullcaps, so you need to find out what you've got fitted. Easy to swap the covers btw

Definitely got the scull caps. are they just a 'clip-on' job then?

Hello Darsie, Just to be clear, the covers from the earlier bullet-type mirrors (the chrome ones in the top photo - from Suzublu) will NOT clip onto the skullcap mirror frames. You'll need to source a pair of the bullet mirrors and swap over the entire assemblies (lots available on famous auction sites etc.). Luckily, it's a fairly straightforward task (from memory). Not necessary to remove the door-card entirely, but doing this does leave the process that bit easier. Then it's just a matter of pulling back the upper trim, unclipping the loom, undoing the screws and swapping out. Just make sure that you get all the screws/nuts/bolts (3 per side, I believe) with any second-hand pair of bullets you get, as I seem to remember that the fasteners are slightly different between the two mirror types. You'll not be sorry with the look of the bullet mirrors once you get them swapped out P.S: Probably no harm to get a new set of mirror gaskets when you're at it - Part No CSW100240 (RHS) and CSW100250 (LHS) - these are available from Rimmer Bros for a few pounds each. Good luck, Karl. |

Thanks for the info karl. I have scull cap mirrors fitted to my 04, not looking to change them to bullets as I really like the style, so ... now armed with the info I can start looking for a nice pair of chrome scull caps.
Seen a few singles and pairs on various auction sites but when asking questions about general condition, most if not all have scuffs / scratches / chips etc and seem to be edging toward silly prices. Might have a search 'n' see how much they are new, assuming they are still available. Thanks once again for the insight 'n' help. |
